Grandfather Mountain Bleak Midwinter is an archival giclée print from an original watercolor and ink painting. The technique used for this landscape was taught to me by Duluth, Minnesota, artist Cheng Khee Chee, who I had the privilege to study with several times while working with Cheap Joes Art Supplies in Boone. It uses a ground of crinkled rice paper soaked in water and mounted with paste glue to #300 lb cold pressed watercolor paper. This results in unique textural characteristics when painted over with watercolor or sumi ink when damp. This landscape gives the feeling of the intense cold that occurs after a heavy snowfall with a cloudless late afternoon atmosphere! There is a little warm color in places, but not enough to keep you from shivering a bit! Giclée Prints are artist produced and signed, printed with long lasting pigmented inks on 300gsm Red River Aurora Fine Art paper. Prints are shipped carefully rolled in a protective shipping tube with padding in a clear sleeve.
