Original Fire was commissioned by the 2025 Carolina BalloonFest Committee. Two full-sheet 22×30 originals were painted reflecting on the history of hot air ballooning in Iredell County, drawing from experiences in the Love Valley area from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The featured balloons were chosen for the long-term commitment of their owners to the sport and their participation in the festival's growth over fifty years. A secondary theme was inspired by the very physics of flight — earth, wind, and fire coming together in the natural products that weave the baskets, the wind currents that move them, and the combustion that provides the lift.
