Watercolor florals have always posed a challenge — it is easy to overwork them with too much detail, which degenerates the delicacy and soft nature of a flower into something static and lifeless. Working with watercolor master Cheng Khee Chee using the "saturated wet" lifting technique has opened up a far more interesting approach to capturing florals and botanicals. The results are soft, loose, and dynamic — often more of an abstraction than a rendering, and all the more alive for it.
