This watercolor began as a demo in a Cheap Joe’s watercolor workshop, completed several months later. Mrs. Charlene Baker of Ft. Worth, Texas provided the source image of sailing masts in a New Bern, N.C. harbor. The challenge was reducing complexity and painting in a low light value pattern. A pop of scarlet against muted dark greens provides a dynamic color harmony in an overall calm evening scene.
